- (10 pts) In lab, you found that by adding equal amounts of 3 M HCl and 3 M NaOH together, the temperature rose 19.1°C. Suppose you added equal amounts of 3M HCl and 2M NaOH, how much of a temperature rise should be expected?
2M NaOH will neutralize only 2M of the HCl leaving the remainder of the HCl unreacted. Thus our answer should be 2/3 of the 19.1°C = 12.7°C rise.
