Chem 101 Lab
Week #5

Hopefully, the lab will again be an hour shorter this week.*
The second part of the "half-quiz" will cover mostly matters relating to the MgO lab and graphing skills, a general question or two on the Stoichiometry lab with KClO3. The lab lecture will, of course, cover the KClO3 directions. But since so many of your are biologically oriented (you are living, aren't you!), I shall ask you to bring in your notes for Bio 101 regarding glycolysis. If you don't have such, some of the links below will be what you need. We are going to take a brief look at some of the glycolysis reactions from the point of view of a chemist. Perhaps the next lab will deal with phosphate and pyrophosphate (essence of ATP) rather than sulfate, which has been originally planned.

Have with you the printout of the KClO3 protocol so that you can do it in lab. Again, it'll be individuals and not groups.

Laboratory Safety Notes (New items are in PURPLE).
