This lab wiil be done as groups of two. The following experiment was designed with safety in mind for high schoolers. However, since y'all are more responsible, thinking college students we are making a change: as written the exercise uses cold items that are placed in mid-temperature water so that the water cools and no one can get burned; here in college we shall do that but first we will place hot objects into mid-temperature water so that the water warms. THEN we will chill the objects and add them back to the water to cool the water. Thus each group will do both a hot and cold treatment of their assigned substance.
