	Current notes and guidance May 20-21, 2008 Introductions - getting to know each other. Why just a recent text, and not a particular text? The rules and expectations of the course → Syllabus An opening survey of microbiology (seeing the whole "forest" first before we look at the individual trees) (What's the difference between a "survey" and an "introduction?") The basic bacterial family tree Getting ourselves prepared for doing the semester's projects. Learning basic microbiological techniques Learning to work together as a team of teams. Discussing the projects and their ramifications Involving our older children in the flower/honey project with us. Tuesday evening will not only be lecture: we will get off our duffs and make acquaintance with the lab and even make up some stuff needed for the labs on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
