  • Lecture:
    • The Growth Curve and its Implications
      This is in preparation for next week's lab.
    • Also some analytical topics regarding lab will be covered.
    • Beware! Another Mary Lou quiz is in your future!

  • This week's LAB will be divided into two parts:
    • Characterization of the baby and milk bacteria -
      microscopy and differental plates
    • Using other types of plates for characterization - MacConkey for Gram(-); Starch plates for amylase producers; Gelatin plates for protease producers; IMViC tests for the Enterobacteria. ("IMViC" should be in your text's index!)
      (Can you invent a type of plate which could be used for for either amylase or protease testing?)
