We hear a lot about how important it is to cook our meat thoroughly so that all the germs are killed and won't make us sick - sometimes deathly sick.
In this experiment you will find whether there are germs on the OUTSIDE and/or on the INSIDE of the meat.
Among other things, this is what you must do. You must cook the OUTSIDE of the meat to kill the germs there, and then bend the meat, cut it to expose the UNCOOKED inner parts, and swab the uncooked meat.

| You will then see if there are any germs on the swab by rubbing it on a petri plate, which you will learn how to make. You will then know if there were any germs on the INSIDE of the meat.
How would you determine if there were any germs on the outside of the meat? Here's a hint: Your petri plate will grow up to look like one of these:
 Where: "B" = outside before cooking;
A" = outside after cooking "X" = inside after cooking.
